Numerical Modelling of Flow-Debris Interaction during Extreme Hydrodynamic Events with DualSPHysics-CHRONO

چکیده
Floods can transport debris of a very wide range dimensions, from cohesive sediments to large floating debris, such as trees and cars. The latter increases the risk associated with floods by, for example, obstructing flow or damaging structures due impact. this type their interaction are often studied experimentally in context tsunamis flash floods. Numerical studies on problem rare, therefore present study focuses numerical modelling flow-debris interaction. This is achieved by simulating multiple laboratory experiments, available literature, single buoyant container transported dam-break order validate chosen approach. simulations carried using open source DualSPHysics model based smoothed particle hydrodynamics method coupled multi-physics engine CHRONO, which handles container–bottom interactions. trajectory, well velocity centroid container, were tracked throughout simulation compared same quantities measured laboratory. agreement between experiment results quantitatively assessed normalised root mean squared error it shown that accurate reproducing trajectory velocity.

Numerical Modelling of Dusty Debris
Infrared and submillimetre observations of nearby Vega-like stars have revealed a number of clumpy, asymmetric dust debris disks. Previous studies using semi-analytical and numerical methods have suggested planetary companions of various mass as the likely cause of most examples of disk asymmetry. In this paper, we modify an N-body symplectic gravitational integrator to include radiation terms ...
متن کاملLandslide and Debris Flow Characteristics during Extreme Rainfall in Taiwan
As the global climate changes, the threat from landslides and debris flows increases. Learning how a watershed initiates landslides under abnormal rainfall conditions and predicting landslide magnitude and frequency distribution is thus important. Landslides show a power-law distribution in the frequency-area distribution. The distribution curve shows an exponent gradient 1.0 in the Sandpile mo...
متن کاملThe application of numerical debris flow modelling for the generation of physical vulnerability curves
For a quantitative assessment of debris flow risk, it is essential to consider not only the hazardous process itself but also to perform an analysis of its consequences. This should include the estimation of the expected monetary losses as the product of the hazard with a given magnitude and the vulnerability of the elements exposed. A quantifiable integrated approach of both hazard and vulnera...
متن کاملNumerical Investigation of Vortex Interaction in Pipe Flow
To discover the nonlinear characteristics of pipe flow, we simulated the flow as a sum of many vortex rings. As a first step, we investigated the nonlinear interaction among a maximum of three vortex rings. The pipe wall was replaced by many bound vortices. A free vortex ring moves right or left according to the radius, and that of a particular radius keeps the initial position. The energy of a...

The circadian clock system in mammals drives many physiological processes including the daily rhythms of sleep-wake behavior, hormonal secretion, and metabolism. This system responds to daily environmental changes, such as the light-dark cycle, food intake, and drug administration. In this review, we focus on the central and peripheral circadian clock systems in response to drugs, food, and nut...
